I recently added these images to my online gallery. I captured these in Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park just this past September, 2023. My favorite is the bison (American Buffalo) walking into the sunlight! His frost covered fur glistened in the sun and his cold breath lingered with his footsteps. The power and size of this majestic was so amazing!
The next image is of a bull elk who was bugling from the hilltop as he surveyed his harem of females and calves. The sound of the bugle is somewhat surprising and not what you would expect to hear from such a massive animal! Google elk bugling and you can hear a recording of this eerie call.
The elk profile shot shows of the huge antler rack this bull elk sports to show off his maturity and power to entice females to mate with him and to fight off any other males who might challenge his authority.
The following image is of a young male mouse chasing a female who was having nothing to do with him. It was as if she was saying, “Oh, grow up, and come back to see me next year!”
The next photo is of him slinking away, rather forlornly, through the splash of Autumn color along a stream bed. Perhaps he was thinking, “well maybe next year!”
Next you see a coyote on the prowl for small rodents for a dinner meal.
And the final image is of a young female elk who seemed to be enjoying watching the people who were photographing her as her herd grazed very near the stores in Gardiner just outside of Yellowstone.
It is one of my goals to share images of wildlife to inspire you to visit places like these national parks and to support the continuation of efforts to protect wildlife.
