I was able to find these beauties after talking to a friend. I was explaining to him about my frustration of not being able to get into the Japanese Friendship Garden when the fresh, early morning light is the best for photographing these gems since the garden does not open until 10:00 AM. He revealed a “secret” driveway that accesses the trees along the fence line at the back of the garden. There I was able to get close. The early morning air was crisp and chilly, and the light was perfect against a clear morning sky. And we were able to avoid the crowds that inundate the garden after the gates open.
