There is this hidden gem in Paradise Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is only a short distance from my sister’s home and we had the prviledge of visiting it on a recent trip. Much of the eastern side of the island near Hilo has beautiful lava cliffs where the powers that form the island come together; the old, jagged lava flow, the pounding surf, and the bracing wind. As the sign indicates, this area is part of the Beach Road Conservation District and is considered a sacred place to the Hawaiian people. It is a beautiful place to contemplate life.

Surf Shack and Waves at Wind and Sea
This spot is an historic site where returning World War II Veterans built the first sea shack here to use as shelter during their surfing adventures. Though it has been rebuilt many times, it is considered a sacred spot by many surfers.
